Connect Hilus to Claude and ChatGPT

Setup guide for clinic teams

Hilus works inside the AI assistant your team already uses. Once connected, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT questions about your clinic and have it do work for you, using your clinic's own Hilus account.

What the connector does

  • Clinical knowledge with citations. Look up drug information, dosing, emergency guidance, and other clinical references. Answers show where the information came from.
  • Your practice-management system. Find clients and patients, check and book appointments, and work with reminders, refills, and records in the system your clinic already uses.
  • Your Hilus agents and documents. Update your phone and chat agents, clinic policies, and documents. Changes are proposed as a change request that someone at your clinic reviews before it goes live.

Reading information and changing information are separate actions. Before Hilus changes anything, your assistant shows you what it is about to do and asks you to confirm.

Before you start

  • You need a Hilus account. If you don't have one, the Hilus sign-in page that opens when you connect lets you create a new organization for your clinic (you become its administrator, on the free plan) or ask your clinic's administrator for access. You can also sign in with Google.
  • You need Claude (web, desktop, or Claude Code) or ChatGPT. Some plans of these assistants only allow connectors chosen by your organization's admin; if you do not see the options below, ask whoever manages your Claude or ChatGPT account.

Connect in Claude

From the Connectors directory

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Search for Hilus and choose Connect.
  3. Sign in with your Hilus account when asked, and allow access.

If Hilus is not listed in the directory yet, add it as a custom connector instead:

As a custom connector

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Hilus and paste this address as the URL: 
    https://api.hilus.ai/Vet/mcp
  3. Choose Add, then Connect, and sign in with your Hilus account.

Claude Code

If you use Claude Code in a terminal, run:

claude mcp add --transport http hilus https://api.hilus.ai/Vet/mcp

Then type /mcp inside Claude Code and choose Hilus to sign in.

Connect in ChatGPT

From the Apps directory

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps.
  2. Search for Hilus and choose Connect.
  3. Sign in with your Hilus account when asked, and allow access.

If Hilus is not listed in the directory yet, you can add it in developer mode:

In developer mode

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Choose Create app, name it Hilus, and paste this address as the server URL: 
    https://api.hilus.ai/Vet/mcp
  3. Choose OAuth for authentication, create the app, and sign in with your Hilus account.

Try it

Once connected, ask things like:

  • "What does the label say about meloxicam for dogs?"
  • "What appointments do we have tomorrow morning?"
  • "Update our after-hours message to mention the new emergency partner."

Plans and upgrading

Every clinic starts on the Free plan, which includes $10 of usage credit each month and all connector tools. When the monthly credit is used up, Hilus pauses until the next month or until your clinic upgrades.

The Usage plan is $49 per month and includes $78.40 of usage each month. Additional usage is drawn from prepaid credit that refills automatically, so your team is not interrupted.

Upgrading happens from your clinic's Hilus account, not on this website. Your clinic's administrator gets a secure checkout link from Hilus, agrees to the terms, and adds a payment card. The new plan applies as soon as checkout completes. For multi-location groups or custom terms, contact sales.

How your data is handled

Your clinic's data stays in your clinic's own Hilus account. Hilus only acts on what you ask for in the conversation, and only with the permissions your Hilus account has. You can disconnect Hilus at any time from the Connectors (Claude) or Apps (ChatGPT) settings.
